Dave Cronk

"A decorative concrete artisan spends much of his time looking down. His canvas, is either wet, bone dry, sticky, stinky, toxic and rarely clean. So why keep sailing into the wind? Because at some point in the process, your hard work gives birth to a creative blast of wind which ultimately results in deep satisfaction. The concluding 'down-wind sail with spinnaker flying' momentum, keeps me looking for the next opportunity to do it all over again…"

As a young boy, my dad once said, "If someone ever wrote a book about you, would anyone read it?" Not capturing the gravity of his winsome words, I replied by saying, "I don't like to read." At a young age, I realized that hard work is the elixir to a stale mind. Today, my goals are simple, but the road map getting there is, and probably always will be, uphill. So if there were an autobiography of me, you would find pages of useless trivia, hard lessons learned, and a host of experiences not ready for prime time television.

How many of us get the opportunity to trowel, pour, stamp, mix, stain, seal and scrape thousands of yards of concrete. Jack hammered, lifted, hauled, grinded, sanded and chemically cleaned thousands more square feet of the stuff we affectionate call, "mud".

Of course, how many of us would want to?

To Dave Cronk, host of the up and coming show on Comcast Cable Television's show called "Everything concrete", it's all part of an honest days work. We are presently in Pilot stage, and hoping to air soon on Cable television. The show is designed around the use, and application of decorative concrete in homes and businesses around the country. We emphasize the artistic side and show tips, tricks, and how-to type entertainment, giving our viewers a look at what can be done with this messy medium. Challenging them to pick up a trowel and bull float and let their juices flow.

In addition to my on-camera pursuits, I'm still very active as a general contractor, pushing the artistic envelope in concrete. From large commercial projects to small residential homes, I look for is the chance to go wild. I love to use colors, chemicals, overlays in ways not thought of before, and find shortcuts to make my life easier, and those who read my website.

If that's not enough, I've expanded my idol time to play with epoxy on canvas. To my list of talents, I now add Mixed media epoxy artwork. Displaying my artistic wares in galleries, restaurants, and shops around Northern California and making prints available online through my website.

Before all this artistic entrepreneurialism became my life, I had other interesting jobs, most of which were just good reasons to do what I do now. From fancy titles such as Client Service Manager, Facilities Project Manager, and Architectural Designer to Builder, Lifeguard, and so much more, I've taken my years of experience and undergraduate talents from the School of Hard Knocks, and propelled my career forward.
